WHAT HAPPENED IN CHARLESTON WILL BE AN EXAMPLE TO THE WORLD

Jesus Christ’s church has always been the leader in shaping the course of world events. Slavery wouldn’t have ended in America had the church not been deeply involved in its eradication. The Black church and other institutions of faith were instrumental in  topping legal segregation in America. The catastrophic events in Charleston these past few days will have the opposite effect of what Satan intended.

I Thessalonians 4:13 says, “But I would not have you to be ignorant bretheren concerning them which are asleep(dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” The Christian doesn’t grieve as the world grieves and has no hope. Our hope is that in Jesus Christ we live again. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, he will someday resurrect our deceased bodies into glorified bodies that will no longer be subject to death and disease. So when the Devil caused this young person to murder innocent God-fearing people, as tragic as the loss of life is, their eternal souls are rejoicing; because they have come face to face with the one who is the finisher of their faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

The Christian doesn’t grieve as the world grieves and the Christian doesn’t retaliate the way the world does either. When the Romans and Jesus’s own people were intent upon insulting him and eventually killing him, he didn’t even speak against them in his own defense. As he hung dying on the cross, he asked God to forgive those who were taking his life. (Luke 23: 34) Jesus said this because he knew that they didn’t know what they were doing. They were being controlled by evil, just as Dylann Roof was being led by the Devil when he walked into the house of God and murdered innocent people. Yes, Satan,(the Devil) wants to see a race war in America, but as long as God is on the throne of people’s lives, it will not happen,

The world is the world, and the church is the church. An individual has to make the choice which side am I going to be on: the side of the world or the way of God’s church. Unfortunately you can not have it both ways. Either you will react in your flesh and seek revenge because of hatred, or you know that because of Jesus Christ your sins have been forgiven and your hope lies in him, and him alone. I would like to leave you with this scripture from I Peter 2:23: “He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.” (New Living Translation)
