THE ONLY UNFORGIVEABLE SIN

The dictionary definition of belief is  confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof. Sometimes it is easy to believe in things that we see: the test of true belief is believing in that which we see not. I Peter 7-8 says, “That the trial of your faith being more precious than gold…..might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8) Whom having not seen, ye love…

Jesus said to his doubting disciple, “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”  The first chapter of the book of St. John reads like poetry when it states;10)He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not11). He came unto his own and his own received him not. 12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Jesus told his followers many times that they would be persecuted because of his name. That is why in this world we can speak of God all we want to, but the minute you mention the name Jesus, some people become offended. In the countries in the Middle East they are so offended that they are killing those who identify with the name and cross of Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is so simple that a young child can understand it. A Christian can’t even come to God except they believe that he exist. Mark 16:16 says, ” He that believeth and his baptized shall be saved; be he that believeth not shall be damned.” Is there any sin that God can not forgive? Is there any sin that can keep a soul out of heaven’s doors? People have murdered, committed adultery, stolen, and the like. Many of the people that God used greatly were murderers,(Paul, Moses, David). Yet murder isn’t an unforgiveable sin; neither is taking one’s own life. When it comes to forgiveness Jesus Christ does not keep score.

Unbelief itself is a sin, and it is the sin of not believing in Jesus that is unforgiveable. Think about it, would someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ be comfortable in heaven around those who do believe in him. If one doesn’t want to worship and honor Jesus in this life, why would they want to worship him in the life to come? When God was leading the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised land many could not enter in because of unbelief. They didn’t believe in Moses, (God’s servant), and they didn’t believe that God had the power to bring them to where they belonged. So they wandered around in the desert for forty years on a journey that would have only taken a few days. Hebrews 3:12 says, “Take heed, bretheren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” John 3:16 says that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jesus performed countless miracles during his earthly ministry; and many times the first question he would ask a person who wanted to be healed was, “do you believe?” There were cities he where couldn’t perform miracles because of the people’s unbelief. (Matthew 13:58)

When looking at sin, God’s forgiveness is immeasurable,( yet we don’t deliberately sin because of his grace). Jesus Christ went to the cross for all sin, yet the only sin he can’t forgive is when one refuses to believe.
